How did we ever manage without it?

For the past 22 years I have had a friend in Lake Tahoe...a pen-friend, as she was called at the time. We exchanged letters perhaps once a month; long epic tales of family and gossip that would take an age to write, but were worth the effort. These days we e-mail. Instant communication....fabulous. Except that Carmen's e-mail may arrive along with 12 others, and is read as part of a list. At the time I think to myself as soon as I've checked the rest of the mail I reply. But then something happens in the meantime and I then forget. The next day when I check my e-mail, Carmen's nessage isn't in bold to catch my eye, and so I forget again. With letters, they were always there in fron of you.

I think I'm going to surprise Carmen with a long snail mail!!

Groan.....

Why is it that some mornings when I wake up, I feel like I need a nap to get over a nights sleep!!?

A New Year

Whoa. Where did 2005 go? I swear it was there just a minute ago. When I was a kid they told me time goes faster the older you get. I guess they were right.

So what would I like to happen in 2006?

1. Move house. Our sale is going through, albeit slowly, and fingers crossed we'll be moved to Foxgrove by the end of February.
2. I'd like to think we'll receive a letter from St. Thomas's Hospital in London telling us we've made it to the top of the list for IVF, but I really can't see that happening. Which leads me to.....
3. I'd like to get up the courage to sell all the things we bought when I was first pregnant, and there is a lot of it! We have the stoller (trendy 3-wheeler), the crib (beautiful - still boxed), really we have it all, carefully packed up and stored in the garage. It's gathering dust and I think that it may be the best thing just to get rid of it.
4. Go back to California with Andy! This is actually slated to be happening in October this year. We plan on flying into San Francisco, picking up the car and driving straight up to Tahoe. Andy's not keen on SF itself (though I LOVE it!), so he wants to go straight to Tahoe. The we plan on driving down to Vegas taking in Death Valley, then the Grand Canyon and the Mojave on the way to LA. This trip will also be taking in a visit with my friends Allie and Windy and thier families!!! Allie will have 2 little ones by then, and I'm secretly hoping that Win will relent and be PG with #2 herself!

Other than that I'll be happy just to settle into the new house with Andy and Chloe and start doing all the little things that will make the house our own.
